Two-Summers Master's Degree
Program Overview
Invest your summers in an intensive and impactful educational experience that prepares you for a lifetime of leadership.
Spend six weeks during each of the two summers at Columbia University's Teachers College with a cohort of 50 fellow educators from around world taking classes from leading professors. Maintain your current employment during the school year while completing research and capstone projects as part of your coursework. At the end of the second year, you'll join the Klingenstein Alumni network – a group of nearly 4000 amazing educators at independent and international schools around the world.

Students in the two-summers program generally do not take any electives.
Fieldwork and Research
Students propose and complete an individual practicum project in their school of employment in the fall and winter of the year between their two summers at the Klingenstein Center. Projects must be approved by their head of school and have an on-site sponsor at their school. Students also benefit from having a mentor who is a sitting head of school selected by the Klingenstein Center.
Additionally, student complete a group research project in the fall of their intervening year.
Capstone
Students complete a comprehensive, field-based analysis. Through this exercise, student apply theory to real-world leadership and consider their future leadership approach.
Degree Types
The program awards a Masters of Arts in Private School Leadership. Students with previous master's study may be able to apply credits to earn a Masters of Education degree. Students may also apply to join the
MA/MBA dual degree program with an additional year of full-time study at Columbia Business School or INSEAD in France or Singapore.
